Teddy Bear Aliens

Last night we....okay ROY...put up our new crib for Peepers. He's spent his first 7 months in a bassinet/cradle next to our bed. By the time the crib was finished, Peepers had already fallen asleep so Roy scooped him up and deposited his fat little body into the crib. We spent the next five minutes cooing over how cute he looked and then we went to sleep. At about midnight Peepers woke up and I can only imagine his horror to find himself in unfamiliar territory. Perhaps imagining that he had been abducted by aliens. The kind of aliens that kidnap fat babies and relocate them to cribs that are adorned with little patchwork teddy bears. Needless to say, Peepers was distraught when he awoke amidst said patchwork teddies. SO, we scooped him up and deposited him in his bassinet and conceded to try again tonight.
This morning, after Peepers had risen from his slumber and was decidedly bushy-tailed and bright-eyed, we sat him in his crib and surrounded him with some of his favorite chew toys. Okay that makes it sound like he is a puppy but...thats all he's is interested in doing at this point. Chewing, that is. So he sat there. Looked around. Pawed some at his toys. And promptly began trying to escape. I left the room for a moment, only to come back and find him holding onto the crib rail, trying to lift himself up. BUSTED.
He had the decency to look sheepish about it when I called out to Roy...."HE'S TRYING TO ESCAPE! YES! PEEPERS! HE'S TRYING TO ESCAPE! COME CHECK HIM OUT!" And Roy rounded the corner just in time to see Peepers, clutching the side rail and looking back over his shoulder.
To which Roy replied..."Thats it buddy. You just bought yourself a lower level. I'm adjusting the mattress tomorrow."
Foiled again.
